The Kamloops Federal Building had been experiencing intermittent problems occurring with a fire alarm control panel. Additionally, it was determined that several areas did not have proper fire detection coverage. The existing fire alarm system wiring was a mixture of wire in conduit and armored cable methods and did not meet current fire rating requirements. Concerns relating to the reliability and serviceability of the existing system had been raised.

The latest BC Building Code required that this three-storey, non-sprinklered building have a fire alarm system complete with full fire detection coverage. It would need to include an annunciator with zone indication.

Prism designed new addressable devices to bring the building up to Code for coverage, replacing the existing devices, control panel, annunciator, and wiring.
